Where are the best cities for marketing jobs in the U.S.? Where does it pay to be in marketing outside of the U.S.?
Recently, we conducted research around the number of inbound marketing job listings throughout the U.S. and wanted to know: which city holds the most opportunities for inbound marketers?
We gathered data from both Indeed and Payscale from over 3,600 job listings centered around 9 prevalent titles in the digital marketing industry: Director of Marketing, Marketing Manager, Account Manager, SEO Manager, SEO Specialist, Content MarketingContent Marketing
Content marketing is a marketing discipline with the goal of increasing awareness and scope for products and brands in the desired target group with content published on the web and offline.

So, which city and country is in highest demand for inbound marketing jobs?
New York and San Francisco are the Top 2 Cities for Inbound Marketing Jobs
New York City and San Francisco top our list for the highest number of jobs in the U.S. In sheer volume, New York wins over San Francisco in a landslide, with more than 2x more jobs listings than San Francisco has.
The 5 Top Cities for SEO Jobs Shift
New York and San Francisco place one and two (again!) on our list of U.S. cities for number of SEO jobs (and have topped the list every year since 2012). So what has changed? Los Angeles leapfrogged Chicago to move from 4th to 3th, and Boston joined the top 5 from 6th to 5th.
Washington, DC, has been climbing the charts the past two years. DC jumped from 10th to 6th on our top 10 list this year – a list it didn’t even make it on in 2015. Hey, Olivia Pope has to get the word out about her consultancy firm somehow, right?

SEO Salary Comparisons Between English-Speaking Countries
For the second time, our salary study has included other countries besides the U.S.: Australia, Canada, and the UK.
Between these countries, the United States pulled ahead with the highest average SEO-related salary, narrowly beating out Australia, and dominating over Canada and the UK. The data included for this comparison only includes strictly SEO careers that were evaluated.
